Yesterday the House Judiciary Committee approved SB07-25 on a vote of 7 to 4. It next moves to the House Appropriations Committee and from there to the full House. Contact your state representative now and urge them to vote for SB07-25.

SENATE PASSES ADOPTION BILL
The Senate gave final approval to HB 1330 today. The bill goes next to Gov. Ritter for signature. Please contact the governor and urge him to sign HB07-1330 into law.

Second Parent Adoption Bill Committee Hearing
The committee hearing on HB07-1330 is today (Thursday, March 8). The hearing will be before the House Health and Human Services Committee in Room A of the Legislative Services Building (LSB A), which is located directly across 14th Street from the Capitol. Room A is on the east side of the main floor. The committee convenes at 1:30 PM and HB07-1330 is fifth on the agenda. We are advising those who want to attend the hearing to be there no later than 3:00 PM.
Adoption Bill Introduced
HB07-1330 allows a child to be adopted by a specified second adult parent upon the written and verified consent of a single parent, if the child has no other legal parent. As soon as the details of the committee assignment are available ERC will let you know so that you can make plans to attend the hearing and testify.

WHAT: SB07-25 Committee Hearing / WHEN: Monday, January 29, 2007 at 1:30 PM / WHERE: Room 353 (Senate State, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee). SB07-25 would add sexual orientation and transgender status to the current state employment non-discrimination act.
